The Hyblean gate As the title sugests, this particolar geographical area rightly indicates the entrance to a lager territori in Sicily that for centuries has been the playground of many civilizations. The title might have been translated “ the Hyblaen gate”, but it might also suggested a sinister scenario for an Edgar Allan Poe short story or a very modern political intrigre. Perhaps, without a translation, the title will give the reader a more proper meaning. In this Hyblean area there are Le Case di S. Andrea, an enclave of small houses. They are situated in the heart of a quiet and enchanted valley, quilted with centuries old olive trees. More precisely, Le Case di S.Andrea, is a small rural village dating back to the 16th century, recently renovated with care; it has kept the original size and shape of a country cottage, in direct contact with the countryside, surrounded by olive groves and almand trees. The renovation has preserved the local characteristics of old farmhouse, and at the same time ithas given to the rooms and its restaurant all the necessary modern comforts. It has also respected the delicate balance between its landscape and the surrounding countryside: an example of perfect adaptation and continuity of a population which has ancient origins and throught rural touristic hospitality has found the true motive to continue on the footsteps of the forefathers. The unspoiled countryside, the microclimate, resulting from the presence of water and vegetation in the area, render the village an oasis of beauty and relaxation, either you want to spend a relaxing and romantic weekend or you want to extend your vacation to visit the main touristic sites in the area.
